MusiS
The collaboration of MHL with various schools in Schleswig-Holstein takes on new quality with the project "Music in Schools" (MusiS). MusiS is a nationally unique and innovative education concept that was developed in conjunction with the newly established Bachelor's Degree programs at the university. MusiS offers students a higher level of practice and support to the participating schools in their extra-curricular projects. The interface between the schools and the students for this is the website.
St. Jakobi
In November 2004, the Parish of St. Jakobi founded the association "Music at St. Jakobi". Since then, there has been an ongoing collaboration between MHL and St. Jakobi. Within the framework of the collaboration, numerous workshops, concerts and projects are initiated during the year, which are offered with the aim of supporting students and furthering their education. In addition, students are directly involved in the creation of concert programs. The collaboration also serves as training for church musicians and singers. Under the direction of Prof. Arvid Gast, experience can be gained on the historic Stellwagen organ. The singers can join the church choir or participate in concerts as soloists. The collaboration with the parish of St. Jakobi will be expanded in the coming years.

Apart from the Opera Elite Studio, MHL has developed a further collaboration with the Theater 英亚体育app_英亚体育-【官方认证】, which is also financed through active support of the Possehl Foundation: The project "Orchestra Studio" is one of Germany's pioneers in successful collaborations. The aim is to enable students to gain experience in a professional orchestra and thus optimize their chances for entry into the profession. This is important since the requirement for a career for young orchestral musicians is increasingly requireing proof of practical experience in one of the many German professional orchestras. For students, this usually meant moving to a different location for the duration of the placement and missing regular lessons from their main subject teacher. Orchestra Studio guarantees MHL students – who pass their auditions – more future jobs in operas and symphony concerts: on site, during their regular study time and with payment, as well! While participating in the Orchestra Studio, students are supervised by an orchestra musician as a mentor who also assists in any orchestra-specific questions. Students are directly involved in rehearsals: the strings take part in two concerts and a musical theater production, the wind and percussion musicians take part in one concert and a musical theater production. Their normal studies are not interrupted the entire time – and even more important – they do not miss out on lessons with their main teacher. This project was made possible through the financial support of the Possehl Foundation with a contribution of 74,000 Euro, spread out over three years.
